Dr. Paul Laidler will be discussing his personal research as well as his curatorial project, Just Press Print.
Paul Laidler is a researcher and senior lecturer in Illustration and Printmaking at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Laidler is a leading voice in the role of digital technologies in relation to analog print. His research explores the impact of digital technology within the field of fine art printmaking focusing on the advantages of using the traditional collaborative print studio model when generating and archiving digital print data for a specific artist.
Paul is an artist who contributes to the critical discourse in print as a curator and arts writer, two roles that have developed from his collaborative studio productions at the Centre for Fine Print Research. Paul has published a number of peer reviewed journal articles, conference papers and is an associate editor for the Intellect Journal ‘Drawing Research Theory and Practice’. He has presented lectures at national and international venues and is the academic lead for a fine art digital print publishing practice (within UWE) entitled CFPR Editions. His artworks have also been recognized internationally through a series of juried exhibitions and included in collections at The V & A, Tate Britain, School of the Art Institute Chicago, National Gallery of Australia Canberra, The Royal West of England Academy and The Print Centre Philadelphia.
