Reception: Fri, Nov 3, 6-8m
As the configuration of culture occurs increasingly across digital networks, our everyday interactions have shifted — embodied virtualities, online personas, and disembodied physicalities have become part of our daily experience living with and, in some instances, through digital technologies. META_“REAL”_WORLD is an exhibition of recent work presented by students from the Fall 2017 Advanced Expanded Media class that focuses on the creative use and misuse of digital technologies at the nexus of art and practice; thoughtful experimentation is celebrated and risk-taking is encouraged over formal mastery. The work on display ranges in approach and employs video, performance, sound, net.art, virtual and augmented reality, and 3D animation to address technology’s role in shaping conceptions of reality, notions of humanity, and economies of social interaction.
