Each spring, as part of the 20+ year Viewpoint Lecture Series, the department hosts a pair of leading art critics or curators for lectures, critiques, and seminars during three interactions with the UT Austin campus community over the course of the semester.

Anne Ellegood has been the Good Works Executive Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA) since September 2019. She was Senior Curator at the Hammer Museum from 2009-2019, and has held curatorial posts at the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden and the New Museum of Contemporary Art. She has organized numerous group exhibitions, including Made in L.A. 2018, Take It or Leave It: Institution, Image, Ideology (2014), All of this and nothing (2011), and The Uncertainty of Objects and Ideas: Recent Sculpture (2006). In 2017, Ellegood organized the first North American retrospective of the work of Jimmie Durham for the Hammer, which traveled to the Walker Art Center, Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Remai Modern in Saskatoon. She has curated solo exhibitions with Kevin Beasley, Latifa Echakhch, Charles Gaines, Yunhee Min, My Barbarian, John Outterbridge, Frances Upritchard, and Lily van der Stokker, among many others. Ellegood is currently co-organizing an exhibition with Connie Butler titled Witch Hunt, which will present the work of fifteen mid-career feminist artists, opening this fall at ICA LA and the Hammer Museum. Ellegood received her MA in Curatorial Practice from the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and was a 2020 Fellow at the Center for Curatorial Leadership.
