In this lecture, Jennifer Casler Price will discuss the various challenges of curating a small but extremely diverse collection of non-European art over the course of her thirty-year tenure at the Kimbell Art Museum. She will explore the broad range of exhibitions she has mounted and acquisitions she has made and what has informed those decisions, as well as delve into the behind-the-scenes “mechanics” and lesser-known aspects of her curatorial role.
Jennifer Casler Price has held the position of curator of Asian, African, and Ancient American Art at the Kimbell Art Museum since 1993. She is responsible for the areas of Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Himalayan, Southeast Asian, African and the Art of the Ancient Americas – which represent half of holdings of the permanent collection of the museum.
