The annual Viewpoint Series invites leading curators, critics, and scholars of the contemporary art world for a sequence of concentrated visits each spring. The 2023 Viewpoint Series is proud to welcome curators Danielle A. Jackson and Jay Sanders for a series of lectures.
Jackson is a curator at Artists Space, New York. Recent projects include Milford Graves: Fundamental Frequency, Yasunao Tone: Region of Paramedia, and Las Nietas de Nonó: Posibles Escenarios Vol. 1 LNN.
Sanders is the Executive Director and Chief Curator of Artists Space. Recent exhibitions include Attention Line, Jack Smith: Art Crust of Spiritual Oasis, and Unholding.
Their Viewpoint lectures will take plane on January 23, March 6, April 3 at 3 pm central time in ART 1.102.
Danielle A. Jackson is Curator at Artists Space, New York. Recent projects at Artists Space include Milford Graves: Fundamental Frequency, Yasunao Tone: Region of Paramedia, and Las Nietas de Nonó: Posibles Escenarios Vol. 1 LNN. Jackson was formerly the Curatorial Assistant in the Department of Media and Performance at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) where she worked on "member:Pope.L, 1978-2001" and "Modern Dance: Ralph Lemon." Preceding her work at MoMA, Jackson was a Mellon Interdisciplinary Arts Fellow at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, where she co-edited the online publication Living Collections Catalogue Volume IV: Creative Black Music.
Jay Sanders is the Executive Director and Chief Curator of Artists Space. Recent exhibitions include Attention Line, Jack Smith: Art Crust of Spiritual Oasis, and Unholding. He was previously a curator at the Whitney Museum of American Art where he organized Calder: Hypermobility (2017), Laura Poitras: Astra Noise (2016), Rituals of Rented Island: Object Theater, Loft Performance, and the New Psychodrama-Manhattan, 1970-1980 (2013), and the 2012 Whitney Biennial (with Elisabeth Sussman) along with the performance retrospectives Open Plan: Cecil Taylor (2016), DANCE NOISE: Don't Look Back (2015), and Takehisa Kosugi: Music Expanded (2015). He was gallery director of Greene Naftali from 2005-2010. Sanders has organized numerous exhibitions, concerts, film series, and events over the past two decades.
