Rosalyn Farney (she/they) is an artist from San Antonio, Texas currently working in the Studio Art MFA program at the University of Texas, Austin. Rosalyn studied at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, San Antonio’s Southwest School of Art, and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was awarded the U.S. Fulbright Scholarship in the field of Animation during 2023–2024 to conduct creative archival research in Berlin, Germany for her project Visionary Abstraction in Germany: Stop-Motion Animation and Transformative Archive. Her research incorporates interdisciplinary approaches to collection and moving image practice. She is currently producing stop-motion animation, with the ambition of giving materials a sense of lasting life and significance. She is fascinated with the potential of abstraction to depict visual language, and embraces experimental approaches to printmaking, collage, and frame-by-frame making.
